Power supply has been safely restored to customers in Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine

Power supply has been safely restored to approximately 20,000 customers impacted by an outage affecting Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine.

The outage occurred at about 5.40pm this afternoon, and is understood to be a result of an interruption to gas supply to the Channel Island Power Station.

Throughout the evening, Power and Water has worked with Territory Generation to progressively restore power to customers.

Our priority is to safely restore power to essential services such as hospitals and emergency services and to notify life support customers.

Power was safely restored to all customers at 7.50pm.

We are continuing to work with our energy stakeholders to investigate the full cause of the outage.

We acknowledge that the outage impacted customers at an inconvenient time of day. We thank you for your patience.

Ends.
