If you live or operate a business in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek or Alice Springs, you can choose your own electricity retailer. Your retailer will set up your account, organise your electricity connection or disconnection and issue your power bills.
If you are a residential customer or a small to medium sized commercial customer, the maximum amount your retailer can charge for your electricity is set by the Northern Territory Government's Retail Electricity Pricing Order. This applies to any customer who consumes below 750 MWh per year.
