We provide essential services to remote areas of the Northern Territory through our subsidiary, Indigenous Essential Services (IES).

If you live outside the areas of Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs, it is likely your power, water and sewerage services are provided by IES. IES services 72 remote communities and 66 outstations across the Territory and employs local people as Essential Services Operators to run its day-to-day services.

In some remote towns, we are the electricity retailer and network provider. This means you pay your power bill to us or we arrange the installation of the prepayment meter on your property.

We work together with the Northern Territory Government, particularly the Department of Housing and Community Development, to ensure communities and households have access to safe drinking water and reliable electricity supply.

Am I a remote customer?

In the towns and communities identified in the map below, we are the electricity retailer and network provider.

This means you pay your power bill to us or we arrange the installation of your prepayment meter.

If you live in Jabiru, Nhulunbuy and Alyangula you are also a remote customer.

In Jabiru, we do not generate the power, we operate the network to distribute the power and we are the power retailer.

In Nhulunbuy and Alyangula, we don't generate or distribute the power.  We pay a third party to supply your electricity. We are still your retailer so you pay your power bill to Power and Water.

If you don’t have a home or business marked on this map, you’re a residential or commercial customer and buy your power through another electricity retailer.
