Change in weather behind change in water colour

The arrival of cooler, windier weather in the Top End has stirred up the Darwin River Dam and Territorians may be noticing their water is discoloured as it comes out of the tap.

Darwin, Palmerston and rural area residents are assured the water is still safe to drink and is being treated to the usual high standards that meet Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.

The seasonal change in colour is only aesthetic and is expected to clear up in a few days.

It may be more noticeable in white baths and sinks and may have an impact on laundry, which can be treated with stain removers.
