All but 100 customers have had their power restored in Alice Springs after crews worked through the night to respond to the impact of yesterday’s supercell storm.

At the height of the storm around 5,500 customers had lost power to their premises with trees and debris damaging powerlines.

By 11pm, crews had worked to reduce that number to 1,200 customers.

By early this morning the majority of customers had their power safely restored.

Some areas of Araluen, Bradshaw, Gillen and South Gap are still without power.

Restoring power safely is the priority and Territorians should always assume powerlines are live.

If you see a powerline on the ground, stay away and call Power and Water on 1800 245 090.

If the service line from the overhead powerline to a property has been damaged or pulled away as a result of the storm, stay clear and call Power and Water to come and make it safe.

Customers will need to have a Northern Territory licenced electrician carry out repairs and issue a Certificate of Compliance before Power and Water can reconnect the power.

Customers with damage to their property can find out what to do at Electricity service line on your property | Power and Water Corporation (powerwater.com.au).

Anyone in Alice Springs without power is encouraged to report the outage to Power and Water through our customer centre on 1800 245 090, via the Power and Water app, or the website Report an outage | Power and Water Corporation (powerwater.com.au).
