The Northern Territory Government is partnering with the Australian Government to provide electricity bill relief to eligible households and small businesses through the Energy Bill Relief Fund.

Households

You will receive an automatic relief payment if you:

  • are an Indigenous Essential Services  customer
  • live in Jabiru, Nhulunbuy and Alyangula and currently receive an existing energy concession on your electricity bill.

For pre-paid customers, your meter type will determine when and how you will receive bill relief.

Small businesses

To be eligible your business must:

  • be on a separately-metered business tariff, and
  • your annual electricity consumption must be less than the threshold for the Northern Territory.

The Northern Territory energy consumption threshold is 160 MWh.

For most households and businesses, relief payments will be applied directly to your electricity account. Each household can only receive one payment, even if there's more than one eligible person living there.

Each business customer can only receive one payment, even if they have more than one business or site.

How much you’ll get, if eligible

Households with existing electricity concessions - $350 (in quarterly instalments of $87.50)

Businesses - $650 (in quarterly instalments of $162.50)

If you live in an eligible remote community, you will receive a one-off bill credit for your pre-paid meter of $350.
