Power and Water is proud to support Darwin Festival again this year as part of our community partnerships program.

Through a strong commitment to the community, Power and Water proudly supports the festival’s essential volunteer program.

Power and Water’s Chief Executive Michael Thomson said since our partnership commenced in 2016, the program has continued to grow from 80 volunteers up to 120 volunteers in 2018, a terrific increase of 50 per cent.

“Events like Darwin Festival rely on volunteers to carry out a range of important activities that ensure patrons enjoy a great experience and the event runs smoothly,” Mr Thomson said.

“Our ‘support of the support act’ enables the participation of these amazing members of the community, many of them first-time Darwin Festival volunteers.”

Darwin Festival is an 18-day celebration of music, theatre, visual art, dance, cabaret and more every August. Visitors and locals can enjoy the festive atmosphere, delicious food and drink stalls and free performances at venues across Darwin.

“We have a proud history and committed focus for supporting the Northern Territory through partnerships ranging from the arts, sports, education, environment, business and community - reflecting the diversity of our customers and our employees,” Mr Thomson said.

Darwin Festival Chief Executive Officer Emily Mann commends this unique and considered partnership with Power and Water.

“We can’t achieve a successful Darwin Festival without Power and Water’s support of our wonderful volunteers.

“On behalf of the Darwin Festival team, we thank Power and Water for this meaningful partnership, which  continues to see us work together to deliver a fantastic Darwin Festival that speaks to local, national and international audiences,” Ms Mann said.

Mr Thomson believes that effective community partnerships enable growth and development, which includes local arts and culture programs.

“Power and Water’s community partnership with Darwin Festival defines what it means to be a Territorian - being part of the community, helping out and connecting with people, and importantly, enjoying the unique lifestyle we have here. It resonates with Power and Water’s values, which include being community minded and dependable.”

Power and Water will have water bottle refill and hydration stations placed in key areas to ensure festival goers stayed hydrated throughout the duration of the event.
