National Science Week will be celebrated around Australia from 11 to 19 August 2018. In the Territory, $12 000 worth of grants were made available for activities that increase the awareness and understanding of the role of science, technology and innovation in everyday life and our future.
As part of National Science Week, Power and Water is supporting the DesertSMART EcoFair through our community partnerships program. The Alice Springs event features two days of activities and over 600 Central Australian students participating in workshops on science, engineering, ecology, water and health. Held at the Olive Pink Botanic Garden, the workshops will involve a range of organisations including Alice Springs Town Council, NT Parks and Wildlife Commission, Central Australian Aboriginal Congress and the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT, among others.

Other activities that will celebrate science in the Northern Territory include:
- Pivot, a playground of semi-intelligent seesaws at Festival Park, Friday 10 August to Sunday 26 August
- Wildlife Workshop with Bush Tales at Palmerston Library, 10.00am Saturday 11 August
- Garden to Plate, exploring bush foods, Alice Springs Community Garden, 2.00pm Saturday 11 August
- Women Changing the World, presentation featuring the CEO of The Climate Council at the Alice Springs Cinema, 2.30pm Sunday 12 August
