Tennant Creek’s annual Christmas Tree event was held at the weekend, with 440 presents given out during the day.

Every child under the age of 10 who attended received a gift from Santa. There was also a free sausage sizzle, fairy floss, popcorn icy poles as well as a goody bag.

Power and Water was pleased to help out with some of our Christmas penguins venturing out to be welcomed into the arms of more Territory children.

Adding to the fun were jumping castles and Disney characters, plus entertainment by the Tennant Creek Dance Crew.

Kids could also write a letter to Santa from the writing station, which was specially set up to ensure their requests reach the North Pole before Christmas.

This special event has been a part of the Tennant Creek community for 84 years and is run by a small committee who plan and fundraise all year.

The event is further supported by volunteers from the community including Rotary, NT Firies and St John Ambulance, who all help out throughout the day to ensure a festive time is had by all.
