Four prominent Indigenous Territorians will help guide Power and Water’s reconciliation journey and delivery of its recently released Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.

Community leaders Paul Ah Chee Ngala, David Cusack, Sharon Greenoff and Jeanneen McLennnan join four of Power and Water’s most senior representatives on a Reconciliation Advisory Committee that met for the first time this week.

They are joined by Power and Water’s Chair Peter Wilson AM, CEO Djuna Pollard, Deputy CEO John Pease and General Manager People, Culture and Safety Ian Jackson.

‘Our vision for reconciliation is to be a culturally diverse, modern multi-utility where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel respected, safe and recognised as trusted partners now and into the future,’ Ms Pollard said.

‘We are committed to partnering with our community as we continue on our reconciliation journey and I know we will get strong guidance and advice from Paul, Sharon, Jeanneen and David as we work to bring our Reconciliation Action Plan to life.’

Power and Water released its second Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan in June at a celebration in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) on Arrernte Country.

The Plan sets out clear actions to achieve our vision, focused on key pillars of relationships, respect, opportunities and governance.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, made up of representatives from across Power and Water, will oversee the implementation and reporting on our reconciliation actions and outcomes.

They will be guided by the Advisory Committee, with additional direction on policies and procedures to support a culturally aware workplace provided by the Power and Water Board’s People, Safety, Sustainability and Reconciliation Committee.

Ends.
