Power and Water’s That’s My Water! school education program has hit a major milestone, officially passing the 4,000 student participant mark in 2022.

The corporation has partnered with the Department of Education since 2016 to deliver That’s My Water!, which provides schools and students across Darwin with innovative STEM-based water conservation education programs and experiences.

The past school year saw 540 students across six Darwin schools participate in the program, taking the total number of participants since the program began to 4,044.

Today, students, teachers, parents and industry representatives celebrated the culmination of the 2022 program at the ‘My Future Water Expo’.

This year, participating schools were Dripstone Middle School, Malak Primary School, Anula Primary School, Wanguri Primary School, St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School and Jingili Primary School.

“The concept of That’s My Water! is simple but powerful,” Manager of Water Demand Joel Spry said.

“It’s about engaging young Territorians to give them local, real-world learning about water conservation to ensure they understand the value of water and the role they can play as individuals to help protect our water for the future.”

“Together with our other water saving initiatives such as our Living Water Smart community program and our commercial and industrial engagement, That’s My Water! is an important program to help achieve our objective to save 2.4 gigalitres of water a year by 2026.”

And Power and Water has big plans for the 2023 school year.

There are limited places available in the 2023 That’s My Water program. Schools interested in participating in the program for the next school year are encouraged to look out for an expression of interest document on the Power and Water website in November.
