Power and Water Corporation is proud to once again get behind the volunteers of Darwin Festival by ‘supporting the support act’.

The Corporation has supported the Festival’s essential volunteer program since 2016.

Power and Water Chief Executive Michael Thomson is thrilled the program continues to go from strength to strength each year.

“There are 126 volunteers this year, of which 60 are new recruits,” Mr Thomson said.

“Darwin Festival relies on the enthusiasm of its volunteers to carry out a range of vital activities, which helps festival goers enjoy a fantastic experience and make everything run smoothly.”

“Our ‘support of the support act’ ensures these wonderful members of the community are well prepared to meet, greet and aid the numerous visitors and local audiences throughout the Festival.

“Power and Water has a proud history and committed focus on enriching the lives of Territorians through effective community partnerships, which reflect the diversity of our customers and our employees.”

Darwin Festival, which is celebrating 40 years in 2019, is an annual 18-day celebration of music, theatre, visual art, dance, cabaret and more. Visitors and locals can enjoy the atmosphere, food and drink stalls and performances at venues across Darwin.

Darwin Festival Chief Executive Officer Emily Mann praised the enduring partnership with Power and Water.

“Power and Water’s support of our wonderful volunteers ensures we can achieve a successful Darwin Festival – it’s not possible without them,” Ms Mann said.

“On behalf of the Darwin Festival team, we thank Power and Water for this well-considered partnership, which sees us continue to work together to deliver a terrific Darwin Festival that attracts local, national and international audiences.”

Mr Thomson knows that effective community partnerships enable growth and development.

“Power and Water’s partnership with Darwin Festival defines what it means to be a Territorian - being part of the community, helping out and connecting with people, and importantly, enjoying the unique lifestyle we have here,” he said.

“It resonates with our values, which include being community-minded and dependable.

"Congratulations to Darwin Festival on 40 years of festival fun and entertainment, and celebration of our diverse and vibrant community.”
