Applications are now open for Power and Water’s new People’s Panel, giving Territory customers an opportunity to share their experiences and help inform the future of essential utility services.
Power and Water is looking for residential and business customers with a range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives to join the new People’s Panel.
The People’s Panel will bring together a minimum of 25 members to provide an ongoing customer and community perspective.
Members will have the opportunity to learn more about how Power and Water services are planned and delivered, discuss the issues that matter to customers and provide feedback to help inform future planning, services and regulatory proposals.
Power and Water Executive General Manager Customer and Strategy Jason Howe said the Panel would create a stronger and more ongoing connection between Power and Water and the customers and communities it serves.
‘Our services are part of everyday life across the Territory and we want our customers to have a meaningful voice in conversations about their future,’ Mr Howe said
‘We’re looking for people with different experiences and perspectives who can tell us what matters to them, listen to others and contribute to the conversation.
‘You don’t need to be an expert in electricity or water. We’ll provide members with clear information and access to our people and subject matter experts so they can understand the issues, ask questions and provide informed feedback.
‘This is about building an ongoing relationship with our customers and making sure their perspectives are considered as we plan for the future.’
The Panel will explore issues including affordability, accessibility, sustainability, safety and the trade-offs involved in planning and delivering essential services.
It will also play an important role in informing Power and Water’s future regulatory proposals, including proposals submitted to the Australian Energy Regulator.
Members will generally meet at least 3 times a year, with meetings held in person, online or in a hybrid format. Residential and eligible business customer members will be remunerated for approved meeting and preparation time.
Applications are encouraged from customers across Power and Water’s eligible network areas, with the Panel seeking a broad mix of locations, backgrounds and experiences.
Applications are open now and close 4 September 2026. To find out more or apply to join the People’s Panel, visit powerwater.com.au/peoples-panel
