Initial assessment indicates extensive damage to the Darwin and greater Darwin areas in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Marcus.

Electricity supply

Our electricity crews will continue to assess damage and will progressively restore power as soon as possible. However we would like to advise our customers that the extent of the damage means it could potentially take several days to fully restore services to some areas.

Safety is our first priority when we restore power, both your safety and the safety of our employees. While our repair crews know the importance of restoring power as quickly as possible, their first responsibility is to make our network safe.

It’s also important to note that power restoration priority is always given to essential services such as hospitals, nursing homes, evacuation centres and emergency services.

We ask for your patience as our crews continue to restore power as soon as possible.

Water supply and wastewater

As there is the potential for water to be contaminated, please remember that a  precautionary boil water alert is in place for Darwin and greater Darwin areas. We are restoring the system as soon as practical and have begun extensive water testing, results are likely to take up to 48 hours.

Stay away from pooling water as there is a continued risk of overflows from some sewer pump stations until further restoration of power is complete.
