Power has now been restored to 7,200 properties in Alice Springs and surrounding communities.

There has been a reduction from about 9,000 properties without power on Monday afternoon to 1,800 as at 10am today.

Restoration overnight

Significant repairs were completed overnight in Braitling, Hidden Valley Camp and The Gap, with crews continuing to focus on restoring the main high-voltage power lines that supply electricity across the network.

Restoration today

Restoration efforts continue today, with crews tackling some of the more complex repairs to major parts of the electricity network.

All high-voltage feeders have been restored, except for Jay Creek. A helicopter has been deployed to the rural area where damaged power lines cannot be accessed by heavy vehicles, to assess the damage and help crews plan repairs.

Work has commenced on high-voltage lines in Ludgate Street, Braitling, and Kennett Court, Ciccone, as well as a low-voltage line on Raganesi Road, Ross. These are complex repairs that take time to complete safely.

A total of 13 field crews are currently supporting restoration efforts, including 6 Alice Springs-based crews, 4 additional Power and Water crews from Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs, and 3 contractor crews.

Additional support has been provided by a specialised vegetation management crew removing fallen trees, along with planners assisting with logistics.

Our priority remains restoring power as safely and as quickly as possible.

We understand how frustrating and difficult it is to be without power for an extended period and thank customers for their patience as our crews work around the clock to restore services as safely and quickly as possible.

Important safety information for customers

Customers are reminded to stay well clear of fallen power lines, damaged poles and other electrical infrastructure and always assume fallen power lines are live.

Do not attempt to remove fallen trees or branches from power lines.

Customers who rely on electrically powered life support equipment should activate their emergency management plans. In a medical emergency, call 000.

Customers whose electrical service lines have been damaged or disconnected from their homes may need a registered electrician to inspect the damage and provide a Certificate of Compliance before power can be safely reconnected.
