Construction is underway on a new $2.7 million Humpty Doo Zone Substation, delivering a major boost to essential services and power reliability across the rural area.

The new substation will replace ageing infrastructure and improve the reliability and resilience of electricity supply for homes and businesses.

With the rural area continuing to grow, the upgrade will also provide additional network capacity to help meet future electricity demand.

Design work for the new substation, including civil, electrical, structural and earthing components, has been completed, with construction now underway.

Power and Water’s mobile substation will be used during the works, allowing electricity supply to be maintained while the existing infrastructure is replaced.

Using the mobile substation means the major upgrade can be carried out with minimal disruption to customers while strengthening the network for the future.

Work is expected to be completed by December 2026.
