From getting kids on bikes to providing new life-saving equipment, Power and Water’s Community Partnerships Program is helping local organisations make a difference to lives across the Territory.

Applications are now open for the 2027 program, with Power and Water looking to partner with organisations giving back to Territory communities in meaningful ways.

In 2026, Power and Water supported 8 organisations, including Bikes Mwerre, an organisation that delivers bike programs in regional and remote areas.

Alice Ross from Bikes Mwerre said the partnership supported free mountain biking, bike repair and road safety sessions during the school holidays in Alice Springs, giving young people aged 5 to 18 the opportunity to get active, learn new skills and connect with others in a safe and supportive environment.

‘The impact went well beyond learning how to ride or repair a bike, with participants building confidence, supporting one another, and developing new social and physical skills,’ she said.

‘It’s about creating a space where young people feel supported and encouraged to try their best, have fun and learn.’

The program also provided access to bikes for people who may not own one, making cycling more accessible to Alice Springs families.

Power and Water Corporation Community Relations Manager, Jane Dellow, said the program backs local organisations that understand what support can make a difference to their community.

‘These initiatives come about when an organisation or group sees a need for something. Supporting them allows us to help address that need and give back to our community,’ she said.

‘For the 2027 round we want to hear from organisations creating opportunities, supporting wellbeing, strengthening communities and helping shape the Territory’s future.’

Up to 10 grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are available. Organisations across the Northern Territory, including regional and remote communities, are encouraged to apply. Applications close on 2 November 2026.
