Our connection process flow diagram gives a visual representation of the steps involved to have street lights connected for new subdivisions. Below the diagram is a written version of the steps required.

Streetlighting process for new subdvision

Step 1 Complete construction of streetlights.
Step 2  Certificate of Completion (CoC) issued for electrical works by a NT licensed electrician.
Step 3  Submit the following to the electricity retailer:

  • CoC
  • As-constructed drawings
  • Unmetered application form.
Electricity Retailer Step 3a  Review unmetered connection application.
Step 3b  Email to Power and Water at PowerConnections.PWC@powerwater.com.au, PNAssetManagement.PWC@powerwater.com.au, OperationalRequest.PWC@powerwater.com.au and copy in the applicant the:
  • Coc
  • As-constructed drawings
  • Reference number (issued by your Retailer)
  • Unmetered application form.
Power and Water Step 3c  Review application document.

Step 4  Is there an existing power supply (basic connection) or a new power supply required (negotiated connection)?

For basic connection go to step 5.
For negotiated connection go to step 6.
Step 5   Basic connection - email to Power and Water at  connect.me@powerwater.com.au the:
  • CoC
  • As-constructed drawings
  • Basic connection application form.
Power and Water Step 5a  Review application documents. Go to step 7.

Step 6  Negotiated connection - email to Power and Water at  connect.me@powerwater.com.au the:
  • CoC
  • As-constructed drawings
  • Negotiated connection application form.
Power and Water Step 6a  Review application documents.
Step 6b  Undertake on-site verification and defect inspection.
Step 6c  Plan and schedule works.
Step 6d  Provide clearance to developer.
Step 6e  Complete energisation of subdivision. Can take up to 10 weeks.
Step 7  Connect streetlights – 5 days after energisation (6e).
Step 8  Advise the Developer/Applicant and Retailer of final connection.
