Repairing damage

Electricity service lines

Use these steps to understand what to do if storm damage has affected your property's electrical connection. Keep away from damaged lines or equipment. If there is immediate danger, call 000 or 1800 245 090.

Identify where the damage is

Identify which part of your power connection has been damaged.

Power line from the pole

  • Look at Outages and works to check whether your property is listed.
  • If you cannot find your property, report a fault.
  • Power and Water will work to restore network supply.

If the service wire to your home is damaged, continue to Steps 2–4.

Power line from your house, or flooding

If the service wire to your home is damaged, or your electrical installation has been affected by flooding, additional checks may be required before power can be safely reconnected.

Continue to Steps 2–4 below.

Get your property inspected

Arrange for a Northern Territory licensed electrician to check the property and verify electrical safety.

Get a Certificate of Compliance

If your property requires an electrical inspection before reconnection, your electrician must issue a Certificate of Compliance once the necessary checks and repairs are complete.

Arrange reconnection

Contact Power and Water on 1800 245 092 to organise reconnection.

During major outages

Power and Water may instruct you to leave your Certificate of Compliance inside your meter box rather than contact us by phone.
