AER – Have your say about Power and Water’s proposed five-year plan12 December 2018
Power and Water Corporation is urging Territorians to have their say about its revised five-year pricing and expenditure plan submitted to the Australian Energy Regulator (AER) on 29 November 2018.
The AER is the economic regulator for network services for most of Australia. Its function is to set the standards by which network service providers plan for, construct, operate and price their network service.
Its objective is to promote the efficient operation and use of electricity services for the long-term interests of consumers with respect to price, quality, safety, reliability and security of electricity.
On 1 July 2019, Power and Water will become the first non-interconnected network provider to come under these rules.
The 2019 – 2024 revised regulatory proposal builds on Power and Water’s initial regulatory proposal submitted in March 2018.
The new proposal addresses issues highlighted in the AER’s draft determination handed down in September 2018 and will be considered by the AER prior releasing its final pricing decision in April 2019.
Power and Water Corporation Executive General Manager Power Services, Djuna Pollard, said the revised five-year plan is based on feedback from the AER and Power and Water’s customers.
“Our customers told us that they wanted us to reduce costs, maintain the current service levels received by most of our customers and target improvements to our worst affected customers,” Ms Pollard said.
“They also said they wanted us to reduce the need to estimate bills through the adoption of smart meters, improve communication about outages and service delivery and support renewables.”
Mr Thomson said Territorians could find out more about the determination process through the AER website.
They can also submit feedback on the AER’s draft determination and Power and Water Corporation’s revised proposal by 11 January 2019. Submissions should be emailed to NTPowerWater2019@aer.gov.au or mailed to:
