Are leaking pipes costing you buckets?

If your water bill is higher than normal, it might be a leaking pipe.

You are responsible for the pipes on your property. Signs of leaking pipes could include a higher than normal water bill or an unusual green patch in your yard. You can also conduct a simple test on your water meter.

To conduct the water meter test,

  1. Turn off all the taps on your property and read the water meter.
  2. Make sure no one uses any taps in the home or garden (including flushing the toilet) and after three hours.
  3. Read the meter again.
  4. If the meter has moved, then you have a leak. Find the leak and fix it or call in a plumber.

If you see water leaking from fire hydrants, meters, mains water pipes or valve boxes (they’re the small red boxes at intersections) please call us and report it.
