Celebrity Lighten Up Challenge 2008
In the lead up to Power and Water’s environment excellence awards, the Melaleuca Awards, local celebrities and identities in Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs have been challenged to reduce their environmental footprint and be part of ‘Celebrity Lighten Up’.

Celebrities have now had their initial meter reading taken to find out their normal household usage. Now the challenge is on for them to make changes to reduce their water and electricity use and we’ll give them lots of tips on how to do this. When the meter is next read and the use calculated, we will see who has reduced their consumption the most. Next, Power and Water will monitor them to see if they are maintaining a lower usage.
A ‘consumption graph’ will be kept on the Power and Water website so you can see how our celebrities are going, together with tips on how to save water and power at your place.
