‘Take Five’ at the Show with Power and Water

Power and Water invite you to stop by, ‘take five’  and enjoy a glass of cool, sparkling water at its show stand show this year.  Many people at the Alice Springs Show visited the stand and we look forward to seeing you at the Tennant Creek, Katherine and Darwin Shows.

While you’re there, take the opportunity to find out how to save money on your power and water bills and help the environment at the same time.

Did you know the energy used to run an average washing machine each year produces about 90 kilograms of greenhouse gas and using warm water adds another 475 kilograms?

There are loads of very simple ways you can slash hundreds of dollars off your electricity bill each year and save the planet. Switching off appliances at the power point, turning fans off when you are not in the room, the hot water system on an hour before use, or setting the temperature on the air conditioner up one or two degrees are just some.

In the garden, remember to water in the evening and early morning, mulching the garden beds and sweep rather than hose down your driveway.  Around your home, stick to a four-minute shower; install water saving showerhead and a dual flush toilet.

Power and Water is doing its bit too for the environment by investing in solar technology, using electricity created by methane gas and recycling wastewater for irrigation.

Staff will be on hand to answer your questions and you can pick up a range of fact sheets and booklets such as how to create a water wise garden in Central Australia, how much appliances cost to run, the solar buyback scheme and solar hot water rebate applications.
