Tropical Garden Spectacular – Darwin

Power and Water are again sponsoring the Tropical Garden Spectacular this year, held on the weekend of 9 - 10 August in Darwin’s Botanic Gardens. Staff will be on hand to talk to visitors about water efficiency in the garden and around the home.

Households in Darwin use more than double the water as those in other Australian capital cities making us some of the biggest water users in Australia. While we may not have water restrictions, now’s the time to think about using water more carefully and the garden is a great place to start.  Did you know that up to 60% of our water use is outside the house, mainly in the garden?

Being water wise doesn’t mean you have to compromise having a beautiful garden – you can pick up a copy of our booklet – How to create a water wise garden in the Top End – at our stand or view it online.

Join us for the fun of the Tropical Garden Spectacular's Landscape Olympics, where the Power and Water team will pit their skills against other organisations to designing and constructing a mini landscape garden within 20 minutes.

Power and Water is also working with commercial retail and wholesale nurseries through an agreement with the NT Nursery and Garden Industry Association to promote water management, development of joint education programs and the distribution of information at accredited nurseries.
