Building the future through local talent

With a nation-wide skill shortage facing organisations, Power and Water believes investing in skilled staff is critical to achieving its $814 million asset investment program and future operations in power, water and sewerage services.

Employee and Organisational Services General Manager Rebecca Kardos said, “Apprenticeships provide Territorians with the opportunity to learn a trade in a safe but challenging environment and equip them with the skills they will need for their future careers.

This year Power and Water took on 12 new apprentices, bringing the total number of apprentices working for the Corporation to 61.

Over the years Power and Water apprentices have gone on to win a number of Group Training Northern Territory Awards for being the Northern Territory Apprentice of the Year including representing the Northern Territory at national level awards.

This week Southern Region apprentices will get together in Alice Springs to meet each other and attend training sessions.
