28 November 2007 “lo, the star went before them, till it came and stood At 7.00pm on Saturday night, Power and Water will light up its giant Christmas star on the top of the water tank in Parap and wish all a Merry Christmas.
In keeping with this message, Power and Water will turn the lights on the star off each night at 2.00am (after revellers have travelled home). The star, which is constructed and erected each year by a local company, will stay lit from the 1st of December until early January next year. Power and Water have also supported locals to stage their own Christmas decorations elsewhere. This includes funding to decorate Palmerston’s water tower, Goyder Square and library and in Alice Springs, for the ‘Christmas on Araluen’ display featuring lighted street pole decorations. Residents and businesses are also reminded that entries for the ‘Show Santa where you live’ competition close at midnight on Sunday 2nd December.
