Power and Water appoints new business strategist

Power and Water Corporation has appointed Alistair Parker as General Manager, Strategy and Corporate Affairs, following a restructure of the organisation to take effect on 1 December.

Alistair ParkerManaging Director of Power and Water, Andrew Macrides, has set about streamlining the organisation and aligning senior management more directly to the operational and support requirements of the Corporation.

Mr Macrides said, “The restructure follows a review of our organisation and my decision to concentrate our efforts on our core business areas - water, sewerage, electricity networks and generation, retail and the provision of essential services in remote communities.

“To achieve this we need the right people in the right places and I am delighted that Alistair has joined Power and Water to drive the Strategy and Corporate Affairs Division.

“Alistair has considerable experience in the utilities sector and he will bring a range of skills to assist Power and Water to plan and implement its $814 million asset investment program over the next five years.”

Before joining Power and Water, Alistair was a senior Director in PricewaterhouseCoopers and led its Energy team across Melbourne and Sydney. An engineer by profession, Alistair has twenty years experience in the utilities sector both in Australia and overseas.

In this newly created position, the General Manager, Strategy and Corporate Affairs will have a clear internal and external focus on strategy, risk, quality, market structure, regulation and stakeholder management and will be the core policy formulation area for the organisation.
