$150 million in contracts to be vied for over new financial year

More than $80 million in tender opportunities will be released by the Power and Water Corporation before September 2007 as the organisation ramps up its capital works and repairs and maintenance program.

Power and Water anticipates that over the coming 12 months a further $70 million worth of projects will go out to market - with the vast majority of these projects containing contracting opportunities for local industry.

The Corporation is investing $814 million in its capital works and repairs and maintenance program over the next five years, which comprises internal costs, supply costs and contracting costs.

“The program has been developed to ensure that there will be a relatively even distribution of works over the five year period,” General Manager Technology Services Rebecca Kardos says.

“This will provide Territory businesses with unprecedented opportunities to plan for the future with respect to ensuring they will have the necessary resource, technical and financial capacity to be competitive in the tendering process.”

As part of ensuring businesses are well prepared for these opportunities Power and Water gives three months notice of various tender opportunities via the NT Government Tenders Online internet site and the Northern Territory News' tender pages.

In turn, this will present numerous opportunities for local businesses to enter into alliances and collaborative partnerships with other organisations to meet these challenges.
