Power and Water Walk’n the Talk through National SurveyPower and Water is the most recent company to put their hand up to participate in a national survey to examine pro-environmental action by individuals in organisations. As part of a PhD research project within The University of Queensland Business School, the survey will investigate factors that influence ‘pro-environmental’ behaviour that individuals engage in that can improve the environmental performance of an organisation. Power and Water is committed to being a clean and green provider of sustainable power, water and sewerage services and promotes numerous ways in which customers can reduce their energy and water use. However, it also recognises that its own people and attitudes are an important driving force to achieving a high level of success. All staff have been asked to take the time to complete this survey because although a significant effort is made to minimise Power and Water’s environmental footprint as an organisation, it is always looking to improve on this and focus on issues that are important to our staff and the expectations of the wider community. Industries as diverse as utilities, employment services and finance have agreed to and are actively encouraging their staff to complete the survey. To date, 6,000 survey forms across nine organisations in Australia have been distributed. The survey is directed to organisations with a large workforce and Power and Water is the only organisation in the Northern Territory taking part. Questions range from how staff feel about environmental initiatives already implemented through to their personal environmental behaviour and concerns on a wider, global scale. Results should be available by the end of the year and are expected to provide valuable benchmarking and environmental reporting information. Contact: |
