Waterwise NT School Program

The Waterwise NT School Program aims to decrease water consumption and develop positive attitudes about water usage throughout the school community.

Power and Water is pleased to work with the Department of Natural Resources, Environment and the Arts (NTRETA) to help reach out to young Territorians and their families with Waterwise messages.

Through the program all schools in Alice Springs can apply for funding for school water conservation projects. In 2005, three schools used the funding to conserve water by replacing lawns and exotic gardens with water-efficient native gardens and by retrofitting toilets and taps.

Waterwise NT aims to fund six projects a year and Powe rand Water are delighted to help spread the water conservation message, particularly in Central Australia where every drop of water is precious and it is important that school students understand it's value and how to use it wisely.
