Sponsoring Solar ChallengePower and Water have a significant investment in solar technology and are proud to sponsor the Kormilda College team towards tomorrow in this year’s Panasonic World Solar Challenge.
We will be following their progress with interest as they juggle their energy reserve against the input from the sun. For more details see the Kormilda College News site 20th Anniversary of the World Solar Challenge 2007This year celebrates the 20th anniversary of the World Solar Challenge. The challenge is the only solar car event to traverse an entire continent. The challenge is open to cars that are powered solely by the sun, but there are other event categories. This year, the challenge will commence in Darwin on the 21st October, departing from the front of Parliament House. Vehicles have until Sunday the 29th October to reach the finish line in Adelaide. According to their latest update the team travelled 363km on day one of the Challenge to currently be in 18th place. They camped overnight south of Katherine, and just short of Mataranka.
