Olive Pink Garden Helps to Spread Water Message

The importance of using water wisely in Central Australia will be highlighted through the Blakeman Garden at the Olive Pink Botanic Garden in Alice Springs.

The Power and Water Corporation has sponsored the garden in a bid to help spread the message about conserving this precious resource.

The Blakeman Garden has been designed specifically to showcase native plants and the way smart choices, like drip irrigation, can reduce water use.

Visitors to the garden can also take home Power and Water’s Green Guide and How to be Waterwise in Alice Springs book, which contains hints on reducing power and water use.

Power and Water’s sponsorship manager Donna Boyce said sponsoring this garden was another method the Corporation could utilise to spread the message about water conservation.

“The Blakeman Garden is a great way for people living in or visiting Alice Springs to learn how to cut back on the amount of water they use in their gardens,” said Ms Boyce.

“We’re pleased to be able to promote this important message to residents of Central Australia as well as visitors to the Olive Pink Botanic Gardens.”

The Olive Pink Botanic Garden is open 363 days a year.
