Hockey Event Gets a Helping Hand

Eight teams of young hockey players from across the Top End – including the remote communities of Wooliana, Daly River and Adelaide River - will come together for a day of competition, thanks to a little help from the Power and Water Corporation.

Power and Water has sponsored the Northern Territory Interschool Hockey Challenge, which will be held tomorrow, Wednesday 22 March, at the Marrara Hockey Centre.

Samantha Farrow, from Hockey NT, said while the competition will help promote hockey, it is also designed to get school children to be more active and interested in playing sport in general.

Power and Water’s sponsorship manager Donna Black, said the Corporation was pleased to help promote a fun activity for children and their families.

“Hockey is a family sport that people of all ages can play,” she said.
“We are delighted to be able to help with the staging of an event that will expose children to the fun of being active.”

More than 70 primary school children, along with their parents and teachers, are expected to be involved in the Interschool challenge.
