See the AFL Central Australia Web SiteAlice Springs will get to see some of tomorrow’s football stars in action this Friday when the Power and Water Junior Development Squad play the curtain raiser game before the NAB match.

The Power and Water Junior Development Squad is in its second year and helps aspiring Centralian footballers aged between 15 and 18 to improve their skills and possibly gain NT, and potentially AFL selection one day.

AFL Alice Springs Juniors President and Development Squad coach Darren Davies, said the squad match on Friday night will thrill the crowd, and the boys will enjoy the experience of playing in front of a packed Traeger Park.

“Junior development is essential for the future of AFL in the Territory, and Power and Water’s sponsorship of the squad provides an opportunity to improve their skills with quality coaching,” said Mr Davies.

“There is no doubt that we have some quality footballers moving up the ranks in Alice and I’m sure the crowd at the Friday game will be impressed when they see how talented these boys are.

“Alice Springs has always been a breeding ground for some of Australia’s most talented footballers, and I am confident that some of boys in the Power and Water Junior Development Squad have the potential to gain Territory selection, and perhaps even AFL selection one day,” said Mr Davies.

Last year 10 members of the Power and Water Junior Development Squad were selected to play for the Territory – six at under 16 level and four in the under 18 side.
