COOLmob won the Environmental Excellence Award for their work in Darwin and Palmerston which encourages households to reduce energy use and cut down on greenhouse gas emissions. They have conducted over 150 Home Greenhouse Audits over the past two years saving an average of 1.9 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year for each house. “We have also received a community environment grant from PowerWater to subsidise another 50 Home Energy Audits,” said Ms Bray. “This means it will only cost the households $10 which is incredibly good value and end up saving people hundreds of dollars a year,” she said. “People are becoming much more aware of climate change issues these days,” said Ms Bray. “I think everybody is interested in saving money and most people want to help the environment and this is a good way to do both,” she said.
