Noise Investigation into Alice Springs Generators

Power and Water is taking customer concerns about noise from the new generator at the Alice Springs Power Station seriously.

While the new generator is here to meet our rising electricity demands, we are seeking a solution that will ensure a reliable source of power from the generator, but with less noise so our customers can get a good nights sleep.

We are seeking specialist advice on the sound emitted from the generator. An expert in industrial sound measurement will record data from the affected suburbs. With this information we can find an exact solution to this problem.

The sound measurements will take around three weeks to complete. However, the manufacturer is currently investigating a vibration problem with the generator, so the start of the sound survey has been delayed. It should begin in late September.
