Simple Tips to Save Water
in the Garden
Average Darwin households use about one half of their water in the garden.
There are some simple things
you can do to save water and still have a great looking garden.
- Water your garden between 8pm and 6am, when it’s less likely to evaporate.
- Use drip irrigation. The water will go
where it’s needed – the roots.
- Don’t over-water. Use a tap timer in
case you forget to turn it off.
- Use a broom to clean paths, not
a hose.
- Reduce the size of your lawn.
- Mulch around your plants – it reduces water loss through evaporation.
- Plant water efficient species in your
garden, they need less water.
- Fix leaking taps.
