Melaleuca Awards

Power and Water's annual Melaleuca Awards was developed in 2003 to recognise outstanding achievement in environmental excellence in the Northern Territory.

Territorians who are re-using, recycling or reducing energy and water consumption nominate to win an Award. One entry will receive a $1,000 prize for their favourite environmental organisation.

Winnersof the 2008 Awards were announced at a presentation evening on Wednesday, 18 June 2008.

In the lead up to our the Melaleuca Awards – Power and Water issue a challenge to local celebrities to be part of 'Celebrity Lighten Up'.

We challenge celebrities to reduce their energy and water consumption (and by example, encourage the rest of the community to reduce their energy and water use as well).

Celebrity Lighten Up has been running since 2004 and the feedback from celebrities who have taken part from the media, politics and sport is that it's fun, easy and personally rewarding. See how it works and who the 'Celebrities' are in your region.
