Telecommunications

In Telecommunications, our expertise in dispersed geographic areas in extremes of climate means we are able to provide a full service in the following technologies:

We work with you to design, install, commission and maintain your system, as required. We can also assist you in developing your policies, strategic plans, standards and training materials related to your communications requirements.

Our expertise is in taking existing technologies or manufactured components, and solving client problems in innovative configurations. Our key concern is system reliability – in dispersed regions, as it is often difficult and expensive to make return visits to site. All our system designers and engineers consider this at every stage of a project.

In many instances, reliable, tried and tested supplier components are limited. We have been very successful at integrating standard components into robust systems suitable to our client requirements and local climatic conditions.

In our water operations network, we have worked extensively to design and construct a low cost wide area network allowing the interconnection of all control equipment. This technology allows us to have remote control and monitoring of all the system components: tanks, pumps, motors, filtration and treatment equipment.

We have designed, installed and continue to maintain various telemetry systems that are widely used both in large population centres and remote communities. These radio-based telemetry systems use different suppliers’ equipment and have been configured as point to point and point to multi-point, with the extensive use of radio repeaters to extend the useful range of the system. These telemetry systems assist in the automated delivery of water and electricity and reduce the need for full-time local staff.

We maintain a mobile radio fleet that provides wide area coverage from Alice Springs to Darwin for our own field staff. At our Hudson Creek System Control Centre, the operator can direct someone to a fault through our own mobile radio system if an operator cannot fix a fault remotely, anywhere in our SCADA network.

We maintain over 40 repeater sites and have over 200 mobile radios. We also provide technical support, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
