Control Systems

In Control Systems, our skills are in specialised engineering: automation and process controls and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). These systems form an integral part of any overall plant or operational control system and are normally connected by a Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN) and over a range of communication systems. These systems provide process control automation and information related to plant performance.

We have extensive experience on the following applications:

Electricity generation, transmission and distribution
Water supply and waste water systems
Gas
Building energy management

For power stations, we implement control systems for the automatic start and stop of generators, and generation load dispatch. We aim for the best performance of all online generators and to achieve high levels of system effectiveness.

Similarly, in water pumping stations, we implement control systems to provide automatic start and stop of pumps to ensure that sufficient water is kept in tanks to meet consumer demands. Automatic controls of generators and pumps are normally implemented on the local control system equipment, located in the plants, and the SCADA system provides monitoring and control from a remote control room.

A full range of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), including Allen Bradley, Texas Instruments and Koyo technology
Remote terminal units (RTUs) and telemetry systems including C2025/C225, C25, RTU50 and RTU10; Mire systems including TLM, Gateway and AD2000; Kingfisher systems
Distributed control systems (DCS): Yokogawa Centum systems including Centum V and Centum CS3000
