By installing a solar hot water system, you will receive a rebate from Power and Water, depending on the size of the system installed. An older system may also be replaced, and receive a rebate. The average rebate is about a third of the cost of a new system. Based on our calculations, a standard solar system pays for itself in around four years – that’s free hot water for the life of the system, which is usually 15 to 20 years.
