POWER SUPPLY
VOLUME 1 - OVERHEAD LINE MANUAL

Preface
This manual has been prepared in order to define materials, set out standard construction details and provide general design data for overhead distribution lines.

It is important that uniform practices and procedures are adopted within Power Networks to achieve an efficient and safe electricity supply.
Personnel should therefore familiarise themselves with the various sections of this Manual, particularly those that relate to their work. Where applicable, alternatives are provided to reflect the different enviromental conditions that apply throughout the Northern Territory.

The manual is divided into the following sections:-
♦ Section 1 - Materials
♦ Section 2 - Construction Drawings
♦ Section 3 - Sag Tension Charts
♦ Section 4 - Design Data and Application Guides
The manual is under constant review to establish improved methods and procedures. Feedback is encouraged from Power and Water personnel, materials suppliers and contractors with regard to suggested improvements. It will be necessary as the situation dictates to amend and/or revise sections of the Manual and it is the responsibility of the holder of the manual to ensure that the information is current.

The following Volumes cover other distribution activity:-
♦ Volume 2 - Underground Manual
♦ Volume 3 - Street Lighting Manual
♦ Volume 4 - Aerial Bundled Cable
Reference to these manuals may be required where overlap or common installation occurs.

Suggestions, information, or any other queries, relating to the manual should be directed to:
