Power and Water’s “Water supply and Sewage Infrastructure Product Manual” lists all the products that are approved for use within Power and Water Corporations water supply and sewerage infrastructure. The product listings are divided into three main groups based on the normal use of the product, Water Supply, Sewerage Gravity, or Sewerage Pressure. Under each group products with similar uses are grouped together in sections. A specific product may appear in more than one place in the manual if it has multiple uses.
Each section consists of two parts, the Specifications, and the tables of approved products.
The Specifications provide essential information about the approved products. This includes the manufacturing standard, materials, jointing options, markings and use/operational limits.
The Specifications include a section on the manufactures whose products have been approved by Power and Water that meet the requirement outlined in the Specifications. This information cannot be used to identify specific approved products, as the Specifications do not detail which product range (if the manufacture makes more than one type of the product) or the size/pressure range that Power and Water have approved for use.
The tables of approved products are where you can identify the specific approved products. A table of approved products is a grouping of the approved products with the same use. Tables of approved products are grouped into sub-sections with similar products together.
For example the product table for “Tapping Bands for Ductile Iron Pipes” contains all the approved tapping bands suitable for use on ductile iron pipe, including the size range. The next two product tables in the manual are tapping bands for PVC and Polyethylene pipes.
| Step 1. | Looking at the main Products Manual Contents section on the Water and Sewage Infrastructure Products Manual web page. Decide if the product is normally used in Water Supply, Sewerage (Gravity) or, Sewerage (Pressure) applications. |
| Step 2. | Is it a “pipeline system” or “other products”. |
| Step 3. | Choose the section that best describes the type of product. eg material type for a “pipeline system” or type of product for “other products”. |
| Step 4. | Open the section and go to the table of contents. Note: Page three (3) of the section. |
| Step 5. | The first heading is Specifications under this are listed all the Specifications that relate to the products in this section. Under the remaining headings are listed the tables of approved products. |
| Step 6. | Look through the tables of approved products identified from the table of contents until you find the table with the information about the type of product that you are interested in. |
| Step 7. | The tables of approved products will list the specific product type/manufactures across the top and the available range (usually size) down the left hand side. If there is a tick matching the -product type/manufacture to the available range then that product in that specific range is approved. Note: In some cases it will be relevant number instead of a tick such as manufactures product code or the letter “I” to signify an interim approval. |
| Step 8. | (Optional) If you require more information on the products manufacturing standard, materials, jointing options, markings and use/operational limits, check the relevant Specification at the beginning of that section. |
