Power and Water Corporation is currently redeveloping the Ben Hammond Complex (BHC) on Iliffe Street in Stuart Park. The aim of the redevelopment is to meet the long term needs of Power and Water including staffing requirements, operational functions, staff and public safety (including compliance with building control standards) and environmental standards.
Stage 1 of the upgrade was completed in April 2005, and Stage 2 construction works were commenced in October 2006.

Power and Water is redeveloping the Ben Hammond Complex in line with the 10-year Master Plan, which was developed for the site following a commitment by the NT Government that Power and Water could continue to operate from the BHC site for the foreseeable future. The redevelopment works will be staged in accordance with available funding, with priority given to Power and Water’s obligations with respect to the safety and health of its employees, the public, and the environment.

Power and Water has identified a number of construction tasks that may impact local residents and businesses, including noise, dust and possibly vibration impacts from excavation works, however this will be monitored and managed under Power and Water’s Safety and Environmental Management Plan for the project.
Power and Water has made a commitment to ensure all stakeholders are kept regularly updated on progress of these redevelopment works via this web site and regular letters to local residents and businesses.
Power and Water estimates that construction works associated with Stage 2 of the Ben Hammond Complex redevelopment will be completed by mid 2009.
