Power and Water has joined forces with the Asthma Foundation NT to help people living with asthma in the Northern Territory.Power and Water General Manager Strategy and Corporate Affairs Mike Knowles said the Corporation is proud to support many local organisations. "We have a large workforce, many with families, so it is good to be able to support community organisations like Asthma Foundation NT,” said Mr Knowles.
“This partnership is evidence of a shared commitment to provide practical information on a significant health issue to families in the Northern Territory. We are pleased to be involved with such a worthy initiative,” he said.
Asthma in the Home which is currently being distributed across the Northern Territory provides useful facts and information on asthma triggers and management. Asthma Foundation NT advises that asthma is a significant health problem in Australia, where 1 in 9 children and 1 in 10 adults are affected. It is one of the most common reasons for seeing a doctor resulting in work and school absenteeism, lack of concentration, lethargy and poorer quality of life.
"The Asthma in the Home booklet provides some very useful information and tips on how to manage common asthma triggers in the home,” said Asthma Foundation NT Executive Officer Jan Saunders. “The Power and Water Corporation is assisting us by distributing these booklets through their customer service centres so we will be able to reach a much broader range of the NT population, said Ms Saunders.
