Tariff increases - effective 01 July 2009

Following today's release of the comprehensive Reeves Report into the financial position of Power and Water Corporation, the Northern Territory Government has announced tariff increases for electricity, water and sewerage effective from 01 July 2009.

Power and Water is always focused on providing the best possible service to its customers. It also takes very seriously its role in assisting customers with strategies that assist them to live within their financial means.

Power and Water is stepping up this commitment by introducing a range of new and easy to use diagnostic tools that will help customers consume energy and water wisely.

Visit Power and Water’s virtual energy audit and take an online tour of every room in your house. Calculate how much energy your household consumes on daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis. You can then select options that trigger cuts in consumption and you can literally watch your energy costs slide.  

An online water audit is currently in development and will be released on the Power and Water website soon.

Power and Water is increasing its financial support for community organisations which offer independent assistance to customers so they can reduce their energy consumption. These organisations also provide valuable guidance about a range of Northern Territory Government and Commonwealth rebate schemes that will assist certain customers. (Details on PWC website)

Very soon Power and Water will introduce new graphs on your bill so you can obtain a quick snapshot of your consumption compared with previous months.

Power and Water’s Green Guide publication gives you the best information available for using energy sustainably and efficiently, particularly when it comes to installing appliances and fittings that can unnecessarily increase energy costs.

The Water Wise publications draw on expert knowledge of water use in the garden to help you care for your garden without wasting water, leaching fertiliser and jeopardising plant and grass health.

Power and Water has also set up kiosks at Customer Service Centres in Darwin, Alice Springs and Palmerston where you can access the virtual energy audit online. Customer service officers are available to assist you take the quick and easy tour. Facts sheets are also available online or within each service centre.

Each initiative is part of Power and Water’s commitment to helping you use energy and water sustainably.
