Statement of Corporate Intent 2009-2010
8 May 2009
Every organisation needs a roadmap of where they are going and what they want to achieve. Each year Power and Water Corporation produces a Statement of Corporate Intent (SCI) to set out how corporately and operationally its business units will deliver electricity, water and sewerage services to a rapidly growing Territory population.
Power and Water has seven strategic goals which are to be:
- financially sustainable;
- environmentally responsible;
- in good operational and asset health;
- trusted by government and the community;
- preferred as an employer;
- preferred as a utility provider; and
- ready to take on new challenges.
Each year the strategies are further developed to achieve these goals.
In preparing the SCI which was tabled in Parliament on 7 May, Power and Water has analysed where it stands now, the challenges ahead and the environment it will have to work within.
Just some of the more significant challenges highlighted in the SCI include implementing the recommendations of the Mervyn Davies' Report, delivering a record capital investment program, securing gas supply and providing essential services to Indigenous communities.
Looking forward, the SCI sets out certain assumptions about key issues such as electricity and water demand and balances this against revenue, operating costs and the requirements of new, environmental legislation.
