In conjunction with the savewater!® Alliance Inc a home water use calculator has been developed to provide a simple guide to your home water usage. It allows you to see where you are using the majority of water in and around your home and how this compares to the Northern Territory average. The calculator is tailored to suit Top End and Central Australian conditions and provides a guide to your average household usage per person per day - with graphs showing you the breakdown between different sections of your home including the garden, kitchen, bathroom and laundry.
About 60% of water used is in the garden. If we can reduce this amount, we can go a long way to reducing our water use, conserve this precious resource and save money as well.
Don't forget to also check out the Virtual Energy Audit where you can take an online tour of every room in your home and calculate how much energy your household consumes on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis. You can select options that trigger cuts in consumption and literally watch your energy costs slide.
