2009 Young Achievers Awards
17 March 2009
Power and Water is proud to again sponsor the 2009 Northern Territory Young Achiever, Science and Engineering Award and congratulates this year’s three finalists, Elizabeth Stedman, Katie Strobel and Simone Liddy.
This year’s finalists are all from a science background. Elizabeth Stedman is currently studying veterinary science and has already gained work experience at a crocodile farm, poultry farm, piggeries and the Fannie Bay Racecourse.
Katie Strobel has been working for the past four years as a research associate. Studying at Charles Darwin University, her results won her a place in the Undergraduate Training and Research Opportunities Program.
Simone Liddy has just completed her Bachelor in Pharmaceutical Studies at Charles Darwin University, becoming the first Indigenous student to graduate in that course. Simone has received many school awards in mathematics, science and chemistry, was Indigenous student of the year in 2004 and NAIDOC youth of the year in 2007.
All the finalists are outstanding candidates to win the Power and Water Science and Engineering Award. The winner will receive a $2,000 TIO Build Up Saver Account and a magnificent trophy.
As one of the nine category winners, the Science and Engineering Award winner also has the chance to be named the overall Channel 9 Young Achiever of the Year to be announced during National Youth Week, at a gala presentation dinner on 28 March 2009.
Power and Water wishes all three finalists the best of luck!
