Power and Water Corporation is putting priority on power restoration work following Cyclone Carlos.
Power and Water is contracted to maintain around 22,000 streetlights throughout the Northern Territory.
Many streetlights across the Top End were damaged by the extreme weather conditions of Tropical Cyclone Carlos. Some have sustained damage and need replacing and some need the fittings replaced or repaired.
“Our priority is to ensure full electricity restoration is complete and any further works on damaged infrastructure that supply homes and businesses is carried out,” said Bertram Birk General Manager Power Networks.
“Once this is complete we will schedule works to start fixing the street lights,” he said.
Although our crews conduct regular audits of streetlights, we still rely on calls from our customers to help identify streetlights that need repairing.
If you see a faulty streetlight, call us on 1800 245 092.
“We will follow up each report from our call centre or online forms and will systematically make the necessary repairs,” he said.
